De La Plata (San Joan) is a fig variety that comes from the Balearic Islands, where it was part of Montserrat Pons’ famous fig collection. This fig gets its name from its silver (“plata” in Catalan) leaves that shine in the sunlight. The leaves are mostly 3-lobed and they are also serrated. It is important to note that this variety differs from the one simply called De La Plata. Pons points to the town where this fig was grown, Sant Joan, by adding San Joan to its name.

When do we ship rooted cuttings?
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates.
